Tommy Godwin rode further in one year than anyone else in history. He is still the 'Year Record' holder
and the record will remain his in perpetuity.
Tommy rode a steel framed bike with only four gears. Although Tommy had access to some of the best bikes of the time,
these would pale in comparison with modern machines.
The 1930's was a golden age of endurance cycling. Although Tommy would ultimately take the 'Year Record' crown,
many brave and strong riders also aimed for cycling glory.
Not only did Tommy smash the 'Year Record', but he would also go on to be the fastest to 100,000 miles.

Great to see Tommy finally getting the recognition he deserves. Perhaps there is now enough media attention to warrant the making of a longer feature-length documentary.
